Description

No dinner. No distractions. Just the conversation that needs to happen.

Sometimes you just need focused time with an expert who can help you make decisions, document wishes, and create a clear plan – without the ceremony.

The Essential Conversation is designed for individuals or couples who want to get their end-of-life planning done efficiently and thoroughly, with the option to include family members who need to hear what you’ve decided.

Who This Is For:

  • Couples who want to plan together and ensure their adult children know their wishes
  • Individuals who need to document decisions and communicate them to family
  • Families who prefer a straightforward, business-focused approach
  • Anyone who’s been putting this off and just needs to get it done

What We’ll Cover:

  • Medical decision-making and advance directives
  • Funeral and burial preferences (or cremation wishes)
  • Long-term care plans and quality-of-life definitions
  • Asset and estate planning overview (with professional referrals)
  • Family communication – who needs to know what
  • Documentation of wishes and next steps

How It Works:

We meet for 90-120 minutes in a focused planning conversation. This is for up to 2 people doing their actual planning (typically a couple or an individual), with the option to include up to 2 additional family members as listeners (often adult children who need to understand the plan). If you wish to include more family, consider if Setting the Table is a better option.

If multiple family members want to do their own planning, each person/couple needs their own Essential Conversation session.

You’ll leave with links to completed worksheets, documented wishes, a clear action plan, and referrals to trusted legal and financial professionals who can help execute your decisions.

What’s Included:

  • 90-120 minute guided planning session
  • Professional facilitation by a licensed funeral director, grief counselor, and end-of-life planning expert
  • Comprehensive planning worksheets
  • Resource guides and referral list
  • Follow-up email with documented wishes and action items

Details:

  • Planning Participants: Maximum 2 people (the individuals doing the actual planning)
  • Additional Family Listeners: Up to 2 people can join to hear the plan (typically adult children)
  • Total Session Capacity: 4 people maximum
  • Duration: 90-120 minutes
  • Virtual Option: Available nationwide via secure video call – ideal for families spread across different locations

(Note, in person option is also available)

Pricing:

  • Virtual (Nationwide): $200

Why This Matters:

Every day you wait is another day your family doesn’t know what you want. Every crisis that happens without a plan creates conflict, confusion, and regret.

This isn’t about being morbid. It’s about being responsible. It’s about giving your family the gift of clarity when they need it most.
