Okay- so if you imagine our capacity to handle an increase in deaths as a sponge, right now it is full and it is dripping wet. And then the **** hit the fan. What happened then? Well, the shelter in place began and some of the cemeteries that are not regulated by the state closed. There were no burials at all. And then New York moved exclusively to electronic death certificates instead of a mixture of both electronic and paper. Some doctors either didn’t know how to use the electronic system or were just so busy because of what was happening in the hospitals that they didn’t have time to sign the death certificates.
So before we even really got going, there was a bad backlog. Then things really got bad.
