FAQ About Wills

Let’s talk about wills because I’ve had so many questions about them! Let’s say you just want to write down your wishes yourself maybe get it witnessed by somebody else. Anything is better than nothing. I always encourage anything. However anything doesn’t always hold up in a court of law.

There are also online services where you can download templates and fill in the blanks. However those services a don’t always know the nuance of the laws in your state, but they also don’t necessarily know the nuance of you and your needs and what you need for your will. That’s why, whenever possible, I always recommend that people work with an estate attorney and draw up their will, their advance directives, their healthcare proxy all of that at once. Because when you’re talking with an experienced attorney they can understand the nuance and the special circumstances that you might not understand.
