So why did I tell you this story? Obviously my main goal is to remind you of the value of making your arrangements in advance. Not all of us have the luxury of knowing that we’re going to have a need for things like funeral arrangements and legal documents and financial arrangements. By making them in advance, things are there when you need them, so that when a death unexpectedly occurs, as it did in this scenario, you’re protected.
But I’m also doing this as a shout out to all of my colleagues in Manhattan, Long Island, the five boroughs, Westchester, Rockland, Northern New Jersey, Boston… who have been doing extraordinary things during this pandemic. You know you’ve got people who are doing a year’s worth of business every couple of days, but they haven’t turned into assembly lines. They are still treating decedents and their families with love and compassion, and creativity and the things that they have accomplished are extraordinary.
